Skoda Citigo Overheating

I'm experiencing a worrying issue with my 2019 Skoda Citigo with a gasoline engine. It has clocked 111614 km. The engine is overheating, and it takes a very long time to reach operating temperature. A mechanic mentioned it might be a defective thermostat cooling circuit motor, most likely the map thermostat. Has anyone encountered this before? Could this also affect the coolant system? What could be the eventual repair costs? I’m quite concerned about potential engine overheating.

I had a similar issue with my Citigo. The engine was taking ages to warm up, and the temperature gauge was all over the place. Have you checked the map thermostat? It's a common problem. Is the water pump working fine?

Yes, I had the same overheating issue. The slow warm-up and fluctuating temperature were the first signs, then the overheating started. A scan tool confirmed the thermostat fault. It’s best to get it checked at a workshop to be sure, but it does sound like the thermostat. The replacement cost me around 350€.
