Skoda Citigo Tailgate Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Skoda Citigo owner experienced an issue where the tailgate wouldn't fully open, with an error memory indicating a tailgate hall sensor fault. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by checking the wiring harness near the hinge, which is prone to breaks and corrosion. The solution involved replacing the faulty cable and plug and performing a sensor calibration, which resolved the problem.

Interesting, thanks for the tip! When you say wiring harness, are you referring to the one near the hinge? And did you have to perform any kind of electrical sensor reset or sensor calibration after fixing the wiring?

Yes, the harness near the hinge is the one I meant. In my case, the wires were visibly damaged. I attempted a repair myself, but the issue persisted intermittently. Eventually, I decided to have a workshop take a look. They confirmed the wiring issue and performed a sensor calibration afterwards. They have better diagnostic tools for electrical sensor faults.

I took the Citigo to the workshop as suggested. The error memory indicated a defective connection on the tailgate hall sensor. They replaced the faulty cable and plug, and performed a sensor calibration. Everything is working as it should now. Total cost was 95€ Thanks for the input!

I had a similar issue with my Citigo's tailgate a while back. The tailgate motor would only open it partially. Did you check the wiring harness that goes to the tailgate? It's a common spot for breaks and corrosion.
