Skoda Fabia ABS problem
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Skoda Fabia is experiencing an ABS problem, with the ABS lamp constantly lit and the system not functioning. The issue is linked to a fault in the lateral acceleration sensor, potentially caused by a defective control unit affecting yaw rate readings. A diagnostic scan confirmed the problem, and a professional assessment identified the need to replace and code the ESP control unit to resolve the safety warning.

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, I did a diagnostic scan myself with an OBD2 reader, and it flagged up a lateral acceleration sensor fault. I'm just a bit worried because it also mentioned something about the ESP control unit being potentially defective. Is that what happened with your Astra?

Yep, sounds about right. The diagnostic scan pointed to the sensor, but the root cause was the control unit. The garage said the sensor itself was fine but the control unit wasn't processing the data correctly. Best to get it checked by a professional to be sure, especially with the safety warning.

Took it to the local garage, and you were spot on. Diagnostic scan confirmed it was the lateral acceleration sensor that was faulty within the ESP control unit. They've quoted around 1000€ for a replacement and coding. A bit of a sting, but at least it's getting sorted. Thanks again for your help!

Sounds like a dodgy yaw rate sensor. I had a similar issue on my old Vauxhall Astra. The electronic stability program light would come on randomly. Have you had a diagnostic scan done to confirm the lateral sensor is the issue?
