Could the BMW AUC sensor fault also affect the blower motor? I am just trying to understand the connection.

So, a faulty auto recirculation sensor disables the entire blower? Is that how it works?

Yes, a sensor fault can indeed disable the blower. Considering the symptoms, a visit to a workshop might be necessary to confirm.
