Skoda Fabia Alarm System Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Skoda Fabia owner faced a non-functional alarm system due to a fault related to siren communication. Preliminary diagnostics suggested a defective cable or plug connection to the siren as the likely cause. A similar issue on a different vehicle pointed to corroded connectors as a potential problem area. Ultimately, the owner took the car to a workshop, where the defective plug connection was confirmed and repaired, restoring the alarm system's functionality at the estimated cost.

Interesting. Could you elaborate on which Volvo model you experienced that issue on and where exactly the corroded connector was located? Perhaps knowing that would give me a better idea of where to start looking on my Fabia.

My Volvo was a V70. As for the connector location, it was near the siren, behind the front bumper. Given your estimated repair cost and the likely cause, it sounds like a similar issue. It might be worth a visual inspection, but honestly, for that price I'd just let the workshop handle it. They'll have the proper tools and diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the wiring issue quickly and perform the repair correctly to restore vehicle security. Saves you the headache and potential for further damage.

Took it to the workshop as suggested. It was indeed a defective plug connection, as suspected. The alarm system is now fully functional again. Repair cost was exactly 95€. Thanks for your input, really helped narrow down the problem.

That's a frustrating one. I had a similar issue on my old Volvo, although the specifics were different. The alarm would randomly trigger, and it turned out to be a corroded connector in the wiring harness leading to the siren. Have you checked the condition of the wiring and connectors around the siren unit itself?
