Skoda Fabia Alternator Problems

I'm experiencing some trouble with my 2014 Skoda Fabia with a gasoline engine. I suspect the generator is faulty. The symptoms include reduced engine power, a warning light, and the car struggles to start. I've also noticed weak or flickering lights, and the error memory stores a relevant error. Could this be an alternator issue?

Hmm, sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. Reduced engine power, flickering lights, and the car electronics were acting up. Have you checked the battery voltage? Maybe there's a voltage drop somewhere?

Interesting, the Renault Megane is a completely different car than my Fabia. Can you elaborate on how you diagnosed the issue? Did you also have an engine misfire?

Well, in my case, the car eventually wouldn't start at all. We checked everything, including the battery and wiring, but the alternator was the culprit. I'm not sure about the engine misfire specifically, but the car electronics were definitely affected. Given your symptoms, it's probably best to get it checked by a professional.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I took the car to a workshop, and they confirmed the generator was indeed defective. The repair cost 960€, but now everything is running smoothly again.
