Skoda Fabia central locking issue

Hi, I'm having a real headache with my Skoda Fabia (2022, gasoline engine). It's got about 58822 km on the clock. Suddenly, I can't lock or unlock the doors anymore! It's like the system is completely dead. The central locking is unresponsive, and the car alarm is disabled. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. I suspect it might be a faulty door contact signal. Could it be a cable or plug connection of the component defective, or is there anything else I should check?

Summary of the thread

A Skoda Fabia owner experienced a central locking issue where the system was unresponsive, and the car alarm was disabled. The problem was suspected to be related to a faulty door contact signal or a defective cable/plug connection. After consulting with another owner who had a similar issue, it was suggested to check the door switch. The issue was resolved by repairing a defective cable/plug connection at the door switch, restoring the locking functionality and alarm system.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Skoda Fabia. The car sensor for the vehicle doors was acting up, and the door latch wouldn't respond. It was like the car thought the door was always open. Does your car alarm go off randomly?

That's interesting! So, if I understand correctly, the car sensor being faulty stopped you from locking and unlocking the doors? How did you figure out it was the car sensor and not something else?

Yep, the faulty car sensor completely messed up the locking mechanism. It's like a chain reaction – one thing goes wrong, and the whole system fails. I didn't figure it out myself; I took it to a workshop. They said it was a common issue with the door switch. I'd suggest doing the same. Better safe than sorry, especially with electrics.

Thanks a bunch! You were spot on. Took it to the workshop, and it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection at the door switch. Cost me 95€, but at least my car alarm is working properly again and the vehicle doors can be locked! Cheers!
