Skoda Fabia Diesel Engine Performance Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2018 Skoda Fabia diesel. I've noticed the engine performance is down, it feels sluggish when accelerating. Plus, there's an error light on. A basic code reader shows an error related to the engine control unit. Any ideas what could cause this?

Sounds like a potential issue with the vehicle electronics, specifically the engine control system. The reduced engine performance and stored error codes point to that. Have you checked the main relay that powers the ECU? A defective relay is a common culprit.

Thanks for the quick reply. How would I check the main relay? Can I do that myself, or should I take it to a professional?

While you might be able to check the relay yourself with a multimeter if you're comfortable with vehicle electronics, it’s probably best to take it to a shop. They can properly diagnose the control system and confirm if it's the relay or something else causing the ECU issue.

Just letting you know, you were right. The shop found a faulty main relay for the ECU. They replaced it and cleared the codes, and the Fabia runs great now. It was about 120€, thanks for the help.
