Skoda Fabia Diesel Engine Running Rich

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my Fabia. Jerky acceleration, check engine light, the works. Have you checked your spark plugs and the air filter? A clogged air filter messes with the air-fuel ratio and can cause rich running. Also, when was the last time you cleaned the mass airflow sensor?

Interesting. Spark plugs were changed recently, and the air filter looks clean, but I haven't touched the mass airflow sensor. When you experienced this, did you also notice a significant drop in fuel economy?

Yep, fuel economy went down the drain! I tried cleaning the MAF sensor, but it didn't really fix the problem. Eventually, after more headaches, I took it to a workshop. They diagnosed a faulty injector, which was causing the rich running condition. Might be worth getting yours checked out by a pro.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Turns out you were spot on. Took it to a trusted mechanic and they confirmed a faulty injector. 515€ later and it's running like new again. Fuel economy is back to normal too!
