Skoda Fabia Diesel Power Loss and Whistling Noise

I'm having some serious issues with my 2014 Skoda Fabia diesel. The check engine light keeps coming on, and the car has lost a lot of power. It feels sluggish, and the engine even stalled a couple of times at idle. Fuel consumption seems higher too. I've also noticed a whistling noise, almost like a loud hissing, when I accelerate. I suspect it's a bad boost pressure system, maybe related to the wastegate valve. Could it also be the pressure sensor? Any ideas?

I had something similar with my Fabia. Is the whistling noise constant, or just when the engine is under load? Check the intercooler pipes for any splits or loose connections. That's where I'd start.

The whistling is definitely louder when accelerating. How did you eventually diagnose yours? Did you also get a 'check engine' light?

Yes, mine was intermittent at first, but then the check engine light stayed on permanently. It was indeed a faulty wastegate. I tried checking the intercooler and all the pressure sensor connections, but no luck. Honestly, I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop. They'll be able to properly diagnose it and confirm if it's the wastegate or something else causing the boost pressure issue.

Took the Fabia to a local garage. They confirmed it was the wastegate. Repair cost me 860€. Ouch! But at least it's running smoothly now. Thanks for your help!
