Skoda Fabia Diesel starting problem
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Skoda Fabia with a diesel engine was experiencing starting difficulties, stalling, rough running, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The error memory suggested a fuel pump issue, and a defective cable or plug connection was considered a plausible cause. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that a defective cable to the fuel pump was the problem, which was then fixed, resolving the issues.

Gasoline delivery, huh? How would I even check that myself? Is that something I can do without special tools, or am I better off just taking it to a shop?

Checking the gasoline delivery yourself can be tricky without the right tools. If the error code points to the fuel pump and you suspect a cable issue, it's probably best to get it checked by someone who knows car mechanics. It's possible a faulty connection is causing the pump failure symptoms. Could affect car performance. A workshop should be able to diagnose it properly.

Took it to a workshop, and it was a defective cable to the fuel pump, just like we thought. Cost me 95€ to fix. Runs like new again! Thanks a lot!

That sounds tricky. Could be a number of things, but a failing fuel pump definitely fits those symptoms. Has the gasoline delivery been checked? It is possible it is an electrical problem, so the cable could be the issue. Hopefully it's something simple. I am not really a car mechanics expert, though.
