Skoda Fabia engine oil temperature warning

That sounds suspiciously like what happened to my old Opel Corsa. The symptoms were identical warning light, error code, and oil pressure lamp freaking out. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty coolant temperature sensor. Now, I am not super familiar with Skoda, but is the oil pressure lamp constantly on, or does it flicker? Do you know the exact error code that was stored?

The oil pressure lamp comes on intermittently, especially when the engine is warm. As for the error code, I don't have it written down, but the mechanic mentioned something about the oil temperature sensor giving implausible readings. Could it still be something else even if the error points to that specific automotive sensor?

Okay, intermittent oil pressure light and implausible readings from the engine sensor definitely point towards a sensor issue, but since the oil pressure light comes on, it is worth checking the oil pump. However, given the error code and your initial thought about the cable, it is very likely to be the culprit. I recommend checking the wiring and the plug for corrosion or damage. If you are not comfortable doing that, I recommend taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose it quickly with the right tools

Thanks for the insight I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The cable to the oil temperature sensor was busted. They replaced the cable and the sensor, and now the warning lights are gone. Cost me 95€, but at least it's fixed
