Skoda Fabia Key Battery Low Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Skoda Fabia diesel displayed a 'key battery low' warning, causing keyless access to stop working and central locking to become unreliable. The issue was suspected to be due to a dead key fob battery. Replacing the battery resolved the problem, restoring full functionality to the keyless system.

When you say 'weirdness', do you mean the exact same symptoms? Keyless entry completely dead, and the central locking playing up? I want to be sure before I start.

Yes, those were precisely the symptoms I experienced. The keyless entry became unresponsive, and the central locking was intermittent. If replacing the fob battery doesn't resolve the problem, then I would advise you to have the system checked in the workshop for low voltage or other errors. I'm quite confident that a new battery will solve the issue.

Just wanted to appreciate the advice. It turned out to be the fob battery. The fix cost 37€ and everything is working now.

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Fabia. The 'low battery' warning can be misleading, and the car's system might just be overly sensitive. Have you considered replacing the car key battery? Ensure you use the correct battery type and voltage. A low voltage from the fob battery can cause all sorts of weirdness with the keyless system.
