Skoda Fabia oil level sensor issue

I've got a bit of a head-scratcher on my hands. It's a Skoda Fabia with a gasoline engine, built in . Recently, I've been getting an error message in the speedometer related to the oil level sensor, and it's also stored in the error memory. Along with that, the warning light in the speedometer pops up, and sometimes the oil pressure warning lamp lights up too. From what I've gathered, it could be a defective cable or plug connection to the component. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

That sounds like a frustrating issue. Is the engine actually low on oil when the light comes on, or is it just the sensor acting up? If the oil level is fine, then your suspicion about the cable or plug connection is probably correct. It's like a faulty wire in a lamp – the lamp might be fine, but if the connection is bad, it won't light up.

The oil level seems fine when I check it manually with the dipstick. So, if it's the connection, is there a way to check it myself without special tools, or is it best to leave it to the pros?

If the dipstick shows the oil level is fine, then yes, it does sound like the sensor or its wiring. Without proper tools, it's tricky to diagnose the connection properly. It's like trying to find a short circuit in your house wiring without a multimeter. I'd recommend a workshop visit. You don't want to risk damaging anything further.

Just wanted to let you know that I got it sorted. Turns out you were spot on – it was a dodgy connection. A quick visit to the workshop and 95€ later, the error's gone and the oil pressure warning lamp doesn't light up anymore. All is well!
