The fan blade seems okay when I spin it by hand. How did you figure out it was the speed sensor? Was it throwing a specific code?

That sounds awfully familiar. My mechanic mentioned something about the speed sensor not sending the correct info to the engine's computer, which then didn't trigger the radiator fan when it should have. Honestly, I'd get it checked out by a professional to confirm. Overheating can cause serious engine damage, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Took it to the local shop, and you were right! The speed sensor was indeed defective, which caused the radiator fan to malfunction. They replaced it for 250€. Thanks for the insight!

Whoa, overheating isn't fun! I had a similar issue with my Fabia, though I can't recall the exact mileage back then. Check if your radiator fan is spinning freely. Does the fan blade move easily by hand, or does it feel stuck? Also, is the car radiator actually hot when the engine's overheating? What does the coolant level look like?
