Antenna ground connection, you say? Where exactly is that located? And how would I go about checking it?

The antenna ground is usually where the antenna cable connects to the car body. It ensures the antenna has a good electrical connection to the vehicle's chassis, which acts as a ground plane. A loose or corroded connection there can weaken the FM signal. However, if the error memory points directly to the antenna and the symptoms are consistent, it's probably best to have a workshop take a look. They can properly test the antenna and the signal amplifier.

Took the Fabia to the workshop. The antenna ground was defective. They replaced the antenna base and signal amplifier. Total cost: 255€. Radio is working perfectly now. Thanks for the input!

Sounds like an antenna issue. Had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa. The car radio would cut out, especially in areas with weaker FM signal. Have you checked the antenna ground connection? A poor ground can cause all sorts of weird vehicle electronics issues.
