Skoda Fabia Transmission Issues

My 2005 Skoda Fabia with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. The transmission indicator light and check engine light are both on. It's in emergency mode, shifts poorly, and sometimes slips. I'm also hearing grinding noises. The error code points to a radiator oil pressure issue. Could a defective cable or plug really be the cause?

Summary of the thread

A 2005 Skoda Fabia with a gasoline engine is experiencing transmission issues, indicated by the transmission and check engine lights being on, emergency mode activation, poor shifting, slipping, and grinding noises. The error code suggests a radiator oil pressure issue, potentially caused by a defective cable or plug. The problem was resolved by addressing a defective cable to the pressure sensor, which cost 95€ to fix.

Sounds like a faulty radiator coolant pressure sensor. The transmission indicator light and check engine light coming on together, along with the emergency mode, are common symptoms. The grinding noises when shifting could be related to the transmission not receiving the correct data from the sensor, causing it to shift improperly. Have you checked the cable and plug connection to the sensor itself? A loose or corroded connection can cause these issues. Is there any sign of a coolant leak near the radiator or the sensor?

I visually inspected the cable and plug, but couldn't see anything obvious. Where exactly is the pressure sensor located? And what should I be looking for in terms of corrosion or damage?

Yeah, a dodgy connection is the most likely culprit, especially with those symptoms and error code. It's a common problem on older cars. Given the age, the sensor itself might be failing. It's probably best to get it checked by a workshop; they can properly diagnose the wiring and sensor. Ignoring it could cause more damage to the automatic transmission if it is in emergency mode.

Thanks for the input! Turns out it was a defective cable to the pressure sensor, just like you suspected. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. All good now!
