Skoda Kamiq Cruise Control Issue
Summary of the thread
A Skoda Kamiq owner reported a cruise control malfunction, with an error message stored in the vehicle's memory. Initial diagnostics suggested a potential defect in the cable or plug connection related to the cruise control system. Thank you for the suggestion. I did not consider the brake light switch. I do have a diagnostic tool, and the error code points towards a general electrical fault within the cruise control system, possibly related to the steering wheel controls. Could a faulty clock spring also be a potential cause, especially considering the steering wheel controls for the cruise control?

Indeed, the clock spring is a plausible culprit, especially if the error code indicates a steering wheel control issue. Given the mileage, wear and tear on the clock spring is not unexpected. However, diagnosing it definitively without specialized equipment can be challenging. Considering the error code and your troubleshooting steps, it would be prudent to consult a qualified workshop for a thorough diagnosis and repair. It might save you time and potential further complications.

Thank you for your input. I took your advice and visited the workshop. Indeed, the error was caused by a defective cable connection. The repair cost 95€, and now the cruise control is functioning correctly again.

I experienced a similar issue with the cruise control on my previous Volvo V70. The error memory also indicated a problem, but the symptoms were identical. Have you checked the brake light switch? A faulty switch can often cause the cruise control to disengage or not activate at all. It might be worth inspecting the connection and functionality of the brake light switch before assuming a more complex issue. Do you have access to a diagnostic tool to read the specific error code?
