Skoda Kamiq Diesel Cold Start Problem

My 2021 Skoda Kamiq diesel is giving me headaches. During cold starts, the engine runs poorly. There's an error stored, and fuel consumption seems higher. Suspect it's the electric auxiliary heater. Could a defective heating element really cause all this?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Skoda Kamiq diesel is experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts, with an error code and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a defective electric auxiliary heater, specifically the PTC heater. Confirmation from a workshop verified the issue, aligning with similar experiences from others, suggesting that replacing the heater should resolve the problem.

Sounds like a PTC heater issue. I had something similar with my Kamiq. Cold air on startup, error codes, and the engine ran rough until it warmed up. Check the heating element.

How did you confirm it was the PTC heater? Did you check the blower motor or the heating system relay first?

I didn't check the relay. Symptoms were identical, and the error code pointed directly to the PTC heater. It's a common electrical fault on these. I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop.

Took it to the shop. They confirmed it was the electric auxiliary heater, just as suspected. Quoted 350€, which seems fair. Thanks for the confirmation!
