Skoda Kamiq Diesel Engine Error

My Skoda Kamiq built in is throwing me for a loop. I'm getting an error code related to the bypass valve, and the engine seems to be running hotter than usual. I've noticed a slight power loss and occasional engine stalling, almost like it's not getting enough fuel. Fuel efficiency has also taken a hit. From what I've read, it could be the bypass valve itself, but I'm also wondering if it might be a consequential error resulting from something else. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Summary of the thread

A Skoda Kamiq owner experienced an error code related to the bypass valve, with symptoms including engine overheating, power loss, stalling, and reduced fuel efficiency. The issue was suspected to be either the bypass valve itself or a consequential error from another problem. A suggestion was made to check the vacuum system for leaks, as a faulty vacuum system can cause similar symptoms. Upon further investigation at a workshop, a faulty sensor in the vacuum system was identified as the root cause, leading to a successful resolution after sensor replacement.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds eerily familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot – different car, same headache. Engine stalling, feeling like I was driving with the parking brake on, and fuel efficiency tanked. The bypass valve error might be a symptom, not the root cause. Have you checked the vacuum system? A leak there can throw everything off. Also, any other unusual noises or smells?

Vacuum system, you say? That's an interesting angle. I haven't specifically checked for leaks, but I did visually inspect the hoses and didn't see anything obvious. Where should I be focusing my attention within the vacuum system? Any particular components that are known troublemakers?

Think of the vacuum system as the nervous system of the engine. A small leak anywhere can cause widespread problems. In my case, it was a cracked vacuum line that was difficult to spot. The garage used a smoke test to find it. Given the overheating and stalling, it's definitely worth investigating further before replacing the bypass valve. Honestly, at this point, I would suggest taking it to a trusted workshop. They'll be able to diagnose the issue properly.

Took the Kamiq to the workshop and the bypass valve issue was a consequential error. A faulty sensor in the vacuum system was the culprit. They replaced the sensor and cleared the errors, and everything is running smoothly again. No charge! Thanks for the insight; it helped me steer the conversation with the mechanics.
