Skoda Kamiq Diesel Uneven Idling Problem

I'm officially losing my mind! My 2019 Skoda Kamiq diesel has developed this really annoying uneven idling. I had it hooked up to a code reader, and it's throwing an error that seems to point towards a defective engine mount. I'm guessing this is the source of the vibration issues. I'm seeing a probable cause that says 'Cable or plug connection of the component defective'. Anyone else had this? What am I in for?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Skoda Kamiq diesel is experiencing uneven idling, with a diagnostic error suggesting a defective engine mount. The issue may be caused by a faulty cable or plug connection related to the engine mount. It is advised to inspect these connections for damage or corrosion, and if uncertain, seek professional assistance. The problem was resolved by addressing the engine mount and connection issues at a workshop.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Kamiq, though mine's a petrol. Uneven idling and a fault code pointing vaguely at the engine mount. Have you checked the cable and plug connection to the engine mount itself? Sometimes they get loose or corroded. Also, is it just the engine mount, or is the mounting bracket itself damaged? Could also be transmission mount related, which can cause similar vibration issues.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'checked the cable and plug connection', what exactly am I looking for? I'm not super mechanically minded. And how can I tell if it's the mounting bracket or the engine mount that's the problem? Is there a visual difference? Honestly, this vibration is driving me nuts!

Okay, so when I say 'check the cable and plug', I mean visually inspect them for any signs of damage – frayed wires, corrosion, or if the plug just isn't seated correctly. As for telling the difference between a damaged mounting bracket and a defective engine mount... honestly, it's tricky without getting under the car and having a proper look. Given the error code mentions a cable/plug issue, I'd start there. But if you're not confident, I'd seriously consider taking it to a workshop. Playing around with engine mounts can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. At that mileage, could just be a worn-out engine mount anyway!

Took your advice and went to the workshop. Turns out it was the engine mount and a dodgy connection. They sorted it for 95€. Runs smooth as butter now. Thanks a million for the help, really appreciate it!
