Skoda Kamiq Engine Problem

My 2020 Skoda Kamiq with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. Mileage is at 106135 km. The check engine light is on, power is reduced and engine response is slow. It sometimes stalls at idle, and fuel consumption is definitely up. There's also a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing when I accelerate. I suspect a problem with the boost pressure system, possibly a defect in the wastegate valve. I've checked for obvious leaks in the intercooler pipes, but nothing visible. Any thoughts before I take it to a professional?

Kamiq owner here too. I had very similar symptoms last year. Check engine light, power loss, the works. I'd put money on it being related to the boost pressure. Did you notice any turbo lag before this all started?

Turbo lag, yes, now that you mention it. I hadn't really focused on it, but there was definitely a slight delay in throttle response beforehand. Is that confirmation of a wastegate issue?

Sounds extremely likely. My issue was exactly the wastegate valve sticking. Given the whistling and hissing, there’s a decent chance yours is gone completely. I'd strongly suggest getting it checked professionally sooner rather than later, as running it like this could cause further damage to the turbocharger itself.

After investigating, the workshop confirmed a defect in the wastegate valve. Replacement and recalibration cost 860€. Runs like new. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
