Skoda Kamiq Engine Trouble
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Skoda Kamiq with a gasoline engine is experiencing reduced power, jerking during acceleration, and smoke, possibly due to knocking combustion. The issue may be related to detonation or carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. A workshop visit confirmed the presence of deposits, and after cleaning the cylinder heads and adjusting the ignition timing, the car's performance improved significantly.

Piston slap? I'm not sure about the error codes. I'd have to check again. Is there a way to confirm the combustion chamber issue without disassembly? Is it something I can do myself?

Without a camera, seeing the deposits firsthand is tricky without taking things apart. Piston slap is a different sound, more of a metallic knocking. If you're not comfortable doing a compression test or checking the error codes yourself, it's best to take it to a workshop. Detonation can damage the cylinder heads if left unchecked, so it's better to be safe.

The workshop visit confirmed deposits in the combustion chamber, as suspected. After cleaning the cylinder heads and adjusting the ignition timing, the car runs like new. The cost was 425€. Thanks for the assistance.

Sounds like detonation. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane, experiencing reduced engine power and jerking. Have you checked for piston slap? What does the error memory say? In my case, it was the combustion chamber. Carbon deposits can cause problems. Have you considered that?
