Skoda Kamiq Multifunction Steering Wheel Issue

I'm experiencing a problem with the multifunction steering wheel on my 2022 Skoda Kamiq with a diesel engine. The steering controls are completely unresponsive, and an error is stored in the error memory. Based on preliminary diagnostics, a defective cable connection in the steering wheel is the likely cause. Has anyone encountered this issue before? I'm estimating a repair cost of around 95€.

I've seen similar issues on other models within the group. Is the error message persistent, or does it appear intermittently? Also, have you checked the control module for any related fault codes besides the one indicating the multifunction steering issue?

The error is persistent. Do you know if there are any specific sensors or wiring harnesses I should inspect more closely before concluding it's the cable connection?

Given the persistent error and the symptoms you describe, a faulty cable connection inside the steering wheel is indeed the most probable cause. The steering controls rely on constant communication through this cable. Unfortunately, diagnosing the precise point of failure within the cable often requires specialized equipment. Replacing the cable or the entire steering wheel control unit is generally the most effective solution. Your estimated cost seems reasonable for that repair. I would advise taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the confirmation. It was indeed a faulty cable connection within the steering wheel. The dealer replaced the cable, and the multifunction steering is now fully operational again. Cost was 95€ as expected.
