Skoda Kamiq parking brake malfunction

Help! My 2023 Skoda Kamiq diesel is playing up. The electronic parking brake isn't working. Mileage is 44425 km. Warning light is on, and there's an error stored. I think the electric motor in the brake calliper is the problem, but I am not sure. Any ideas?

Sounds like a faulty electric motor in the brake calliper, which unfortunately isn't uncommon these days. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo. Same symptoms: parking brake light, error message. The electronic parking brake just refused to engage or disengage. Does the error memory specify which wheel is affected? The brake control system is quite sensitive and will throw a code even for minor issues. The brake switch itself might be worth checking, although more likely the motor.

Error memory? Brake calliper motor? You're speaking another language! How would I check that myself? Is it a simple fix, or am I looking at a garage job?

Okay, so the error memory is basically the car's computer storing fault codes. You'd need an OBD2 scanner to read it, which isn't something everyone has. And yes, the brake calliper has a small electric motor attached that controls the parking brake. It's not usually a DIY job unless you're comfortable working with brakes and have the right tools. Given the symptoms, I'd recommend getting it checked by a professional. Vehicle safety is paramount, especially with brakes. A system glitch could be dangerous.

Took it to the shop. You were right, the rear right brake calliper motor was dead. Cost me 505€ to replace. Thanks for the advice!
