Skoda Kamiq Stalling Engine Camshaft Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
The Skoda Kamiq was experiencing stalling and reduced power, with a check engine light indicating a camshaft sensor fault. The issue was suspected to be either a faulty sensor or a bad connection. Upon inspection, a loose connection in the wiring was identified and resolved, restoring the vehicle's performance without needing sensor replacement.

Hang on, you mean the wire itself could be the whole problem? A multimeter? Honestly, that sounds a bit beyond me. How would I check this 'signal' you're talking about? And where exactly should I be poking around for these dodgy wires?

Given your apprehension towards electrical diagnostics, consider seeking professional assistance. However, the reduced engine power and stored error code suggest a compromised camshaft timing signal. The defective cable or plug connection can be tested in the workshop. While I cannot definitively confirm the sensor's failure sans thorough inspection, consulting a qualified technician appears prudent to preclude further complications or potential damage to the engine. The error is indeed linked to automotive sensor malfunctioning. This may manifest as intermittent stalling engine.

You were spot on! I checked the cable and plug like you mentioned. Turns out there was a loose connection. Cleaned it up, tightened it, and boom – Kamiq's purring again. 95€ saved, and a massive thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

Acknowledging your Skoda Kamiq's symptoms, I infer that the defective camshaft sensor may indeed be causative. Prior to advocating sensor replacement, meticulously examine the integrity of the associated wiring and connectors. Assess for corrosion, damage, or loose terminations. Verify the sensor's signal with a multimeter, if proficient, to ascertain erratic output. Was the crankshaft sensor checked, and is it working?
