Skoda Kamiq Turbo Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Skoda Kamiq owner experienced issues with the check engine light, reduced power, poor engine response, increased fuel consumption, and unusual noises, suspecting a turbo-related problem. The symptoms pointed towards a potential issue with the turbo actuator valve or turbo wastegate. Another owner with similar past issues suggested it might be the turbo actuator. The problem was ultimately traced to a defective electrical bypass valve affecting the turbo wastegate, which was replaced, resolving the issues.

Whistling is constant, but the power loss is definitely more noticeable when the engine is cold. What did you end up doing to fix yours?

Mine was the turbo actuator. They said it was a common fault. If the symptoms are the same, especially the hissing, it's probably the same issue. I wouldn't mess with it too much yourself; the turbo system is pretty sensitive. I took mine to a workshop.

Thanks for the insight. Just got it back from the shop. Defective electrical bypass valve was the culprit, causing the turbo wastegate to malfunction. New valve installed, total cost 250€. Runs like new again.

Kamiq owner here too. I had something similar happen last year. Check engine light, power loss, and a weird whistling sound. Is it worse when the engine is cold?
