Skoda Karoq Automatic Transmission Parking Issue

That sounds like a sticky situation. The symptoms you describe, especially the check engine light combined with the transmission issues and stored error, point towards a potential issue with the transmission control module (TCM). Have you checked the transmission sensor connections for any obvious corrosion or damage? Does the issue occur consistently, or only under certain conditions?

I appreciate the quick response. Regarding the transmission sensor connections, I have visually inspected them, but I lack the proper tools and knowledge to perform a thorough check for corrosion or damage. The issue seems to occur intermittently, but it is more frequent during cold starts. Could a faulty park brake sensor also contribute to this problem, or is it more likely the TCM itself?

Given the intermittent nature, especially during cold starts, and the presence of a stored error code, it is highly probable that the TCM is indeed the source of the problem. A faulty park brake sensor could contribute, but the shifting issues and the error code lean more toward a TCM malfunction. I suggest you have a professional diagnose the control unit and the transmission sensor with appropriate diagnostic tools. Given the potential cost of further transmission damage, it's best to get it looked at by someone qualified.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I will schedule an appointment with a qualified workshop to address the defective control unit. Hopefully, this resolves the automatic transmission parking position issue and prevents further transmission failure. I appreciate your time and expertise.
