Skoda Karoq brake light problem
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Skoda Karoq owner experienced a brake light malfunction and an error message indicating a bad brake light switch. This issue was suspected to be related to the brake pedal not fully returning to its resting position, causing the switch to stick. The suggested solution was to press the brake pedal firmly several times with the engine off, which successfully resolved the problem without any repair costs.

The brake pedal feels fine to me. I'm not really sure what you mean by 'doesn't fully return'. How would I even check that? And if it's not returning, what does that have to do with the brake switch?

Yeah, I didn't think it was the switch itself either in my case. Apparently, sometimes the brake switch can get stuck if the brake pedal isn't fully released. Try this: with the engine off, press the brake pedal hard a few times. See if that clears the error. It's worth a shot before taking it to the workshop.

Turns out it was exactly as you described. I just pushed the brake pedal firmly a few times, and the error disappeared. No more warning light and the tail light is working again. Thanks a lot for the help! 0€ repair cost is always welcome!

Sounds familiar. I've got a Skoda Octavia and had something similar happen with my brake lights. The error message and the light failure are annoying. It could be the automotive switch, but I'd check a couple of things first. Sometimes the brake pedal doesn't fully return to its resting position. Does it feel normal?
