Skoda Karoq Coolant Loss

Okay, I'm officially pulling my hair out. My 2022 Skoda Karoq, diesel engine, with only 22229 km on it is throwing a check engine light. I checked the coolant level, and it's definitely low. Topped it off, but the light came back on after a short drive. Scanned the error memory and it indicated a problem related to the coolant system. Could this be a bigger problem like a head gasket issue or engine overheating? Any thoughts before I take it in?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Skoda Karoq with a diesel engine and low mileage experienced a check engine light due to low coolant levels. Despite topping off the coolant, the issue persisted, raising concerns about potential serious problems like a head gasket issue or engine overheating. However, after further investigation, it was discovered that the problem was a defective plug connection on a sensor related to the coolant system, which was resolved at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Low coolant on a relatively new Skoda Karoq is definitely concerning. I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon, though it took longer to surface. Have you checked around the water pump area for any signs of a coolant leak? Also, inspect the coolant reservoir itself for cracks, especially along the seams. Any visible coolant residue anywhere?

Thanks for the quick reply! You mentioned a defective plug connection on your Seat. Was that causing the coolant level to actually drop, or was it just triggering a false low-level warning?

In my case, the defective plug connection was causing a false low-level warning. The coolant level itself was fine. But given that you're actually losing coolant, it's less likely to be the same scenario. Still, the error code might be misleading you to think of much bigger problems than what the fix could be. If you are losing coolant I would check what I mentioned earlier, or get yourself booked into a workshop so they can pressure test the system.

Thanks so much for the input! Dropped it off at the workshop this morning. Turns out it was just a defective plug connection on a sensor related to the coolant system, exactly as you suspected. They're calling it fixed for 95€. Appreciate the help!
