Skoda Karoq Diesel Belt Squeal Issue

I'm experiencing a problem with my 2017 Skoda Karoq diesel. The belt-handover is no longer functioning correctly. I suspect a defective belt bringer/handover itself. This is causing significant belt squeal, and I'm concerned about potential damage to the timing belt. Has anyone encountered this before? Any insights would be appreciated.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Karoq. Check your idler pulley too. Could be contributing to the belt squeal. Is the engine performance affected?

Thanks for the quick reply. How long ago did you experience this? Was the belt squeal constant, or just at certain RPMs? And did it affect your timing belt?

It was about six months ago. The squeal was mostly noticeable at lower RPMs. Eventually, engine performance started to dip. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a workshop. Could be a defective belt tensioner affecting the timing belt.

Appreciate your help. Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on - defective belt tensioner. The belt handover wasn't working. Repair cost me 455€. Now it’s running smoothly again.
