Skoda Karoq Diesel Engine Misfire

My 2018 Skoda Karoq with a diesel engine is throwing up some concerning symptoms at 136600 km. Experiencing jerking when accelerating, a noticeable loss of engine power, and the engine occasionally stalls at idle. The check engine light is on, and the engine runs rough with a strong exhaust smell. Error memory points to an engine misfire. Suspect the intake manifold might be the culprit, possibly leaking due to scorching, but I'm open to suggestions before I start tearing things apart.

Sounds like a potential intake manifold issue. I had similar symptoms on my Karoq – jerking acceleration, rough idle, and the check engine light. Have you checked for any obvious air leaks around the intake manifold or vacuum lines? A gasket leak can cause engine misfire and reduced engine performance. Worth a look before anything else.

Interesting, where on the intake manifold did you find the leak? I've visually inspected it, but haven't spotted anything obvious. Was it a specific area prone to failure on your car manifold?

Mine was cracked on the underside, near where it connects to the cylinder head – difficult to see without removing it. Given your symptoms and the error codes, a leaking intake manifold is the most likely culprit. A gasket leak will definitely cause engine misfire. Honestly, at that mileage, it might be worth getting a professional to diagnose it properly. Could save you time and money in the long run.

Thanks for the insight. Turns out it was indeed a cracked intake manifold, right where you suspected. New part and gaskets, plus labor, came to 1180€. Runs like new now. Appreciate the advice.
