Skoda Karoq Diesel Oil Pressure Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Skoda Karoq diesel displayed an oil pressure warning accompanied by concerning mechanical noises, leading to fears of a major engine issue. The initial suspicion was a defect in the oil pump. After checking the oil level and considering other potential causes like a faulty oil pressure sensor or clogged oil filter, it was confirmed that the oil pump was indeed failing. Replacing the oil pump resolved the issue, eliminating the noises and warning lights.

Cheers for the quick reply! Oil level's fine, and I did an oil change maybe 8000km ago using the recommended viscosity. I'm thinking maybe the oil pressure sensor is faulty? Could also be a clogged oil filter maybe? How did you diagnose your issue?

Yep, sounds very similar to what I went through. I initially thought it was just the oil pressure sensor acting up, but the noises were a dead giveaway. In my case, it turned out to be the oil pump failing. If you're hearing those noises, best get it to a workshop ASAP before you cause serious damage.

You were spot on! Turns out it was the oil pump. Got it replaced at the workshop, cost me around 755€. Engine's running smooth again, and no more scary noises or warning lights. Massive thanks for your help! Saved me a ton of stress.

Low oil pressure on a Karoq diesel is never good news. I had a similar scare a while back. Did you check the oil level first? Also, when was your last oil change, and what oil viscosity did you use?
