Skoda Karoq Diesel Overvoltage Issue

I am experiencing an issue with my Skoda Karoq built in 2019 with a diesel engine. Multiple fault memory entries indicate overvoltage. This has led to the failure of various systems within the vehicle and difficulty starting due to a weak battery. I suspect a heavily discharged or defective battery, but I am open to suggestions before I take it to the workshop. Is this possibly a car ECU issue or alternator failure causing a power surge

Sounds familiar. I had a similar electrical issue with my Karoq. Lots of warning lights and systems failing. Have you checked the alternator output

I haven't specifically checked the alternator output. I've only visually inspected the battery and wiring for obvious damage. Could a faulty alternator cause intermittent overvoltage even with a relatively new battery

Yes, a faulty alternator is the most likely culprit. Mine was putting out too much voltage intermittently, which damaged the battery and triggered all sorts of errors. I'd recommend getting it checked professionally

The workshop confirmed a defective battery was causing the overvoltage and electrical issues. Replacement cost was 290€. Everything seems to be working now. Thanks for the help
