Skoda Karoq Diesel Particulate Filter Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Skoda Karoq with a diesel engine and 154,294 km displayed a warning light for the diesel particulate filter (DPF), accompanied by reduced engine power, smoke upon acceleration, and a strong exhaust smell. The issue was suspected to be a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. This diagnosis was confirmed, and after replacing the sensor, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

You mentioned you had similar DPF issues. Was the exhaust back pressure sensor the cause in your case as well? Was the reduced power significant?

Yes, the exhaust back pressure sensor was the problem. The reduced power was quite noticeable, especially uphill. If you suspect the sensor, I would suggest visiting a workshop to confirm. It is likely the source of your DPF issues.

I appreciate the assistance. It turns out the exhaust back pressure sensor was indeed the culprit. The repair cost me 245€. Now the car runs as expected. Thank you again.

Reduced power and smoke? Sounds familiar. I had similar DPF issues with my Karoq. Have you checked the exhaust back pressure sensor? Is the warning light constantly on?
