Skoda Karoq Diesel Seat Heater Problem

I'm encountering an issue with my 2021 Skoda Karoq diesel. The driver's seat heater is inoperative. Symptoms include a complete lack of warmth, accompanied by an error code stored in the vehicle's error memory, retrievable via VCDS. Based on preliminary diagnostics, I suspect a defective seat heating mat. Before committing to a costly replacement, I wanted to solicit opinions. Could a malfunctioning heating element be the sole plausible cause, or are there other potential points of failure to consider within the seat heater circuit?

Hmm, that's not ideal. Could it be a fuse? Have you checked the relevant fuses for the seat heater? Or maybe the thermal sensor is faulty, giving incorrect readings to the temperature control module? I'm just guessing, though.

An interesting point regarding the thermal sensor. Where exactly is it located, and do you know of a way to test its functionality, perhaps with a multimeter?

Well, I'm no expert, but if the error memory points towards the seat heater and you're not getting any heat, it does sound like the heating element is the most likely culprit. Seems like you've already considered a lot of possibilities. Perhaps it's best to take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They should be able to pinpoint the exact issue.

Acknowledging your assessment, I proceeded with the repair. The workshop confirmed a defective heating element in the seat. Replacement cost 390€. Now the seat heater is working again.
