Skoda Karoq Electric Steering Column Adjustment Problem

I'm having an adjustment issue with my 2019 Skoda Karoq with a gasoline engine. The mileage is currently at 244149 km. Basically, the electric steering column adjustment is no longer working. An error is stored in the error memory, and I can't adjust the steering column electrically anymore. I read somewhere that a likely cause could be a defective cable or plug connection. Could this be a mechanical fault? Any ideas before I take it to the shop? I really don't want a steering failure!

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Skoda Karoq experienced an issue with the electric steering column adjustment, which stopped functioning and stored an error in the memory. The problem was suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection rather than a mechanical fault. It was suggested to check the fuses and consider professional diagnostics to avoid further electrical damage. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the issue was indeed a defective cable/plug connection, which was repaired, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a frustrating issue. The error memory storing an error code is definitely the first clue. Does the steering feel heavier than usual, or is it just the adjustment that's not working? Have you checked the fuses related to the steering system?

Thanks for the quick reply! Steering feels normal, no change there. It's just the electric adjustment that's dead. I haven't checked the fuses yet, to be honest. Do you know which fuse specifically handles the steering column adjustment? I don't want to pull them all out randomly.

Given that the steering itself feels normal and the error memory points to an electrical issue, a defective cable or plug connection is the most probable cause. Checking the fuses is a good first step, the owner's manual should have a diagram. However, it might be difficult to pinpoint the exact wiring without proper diagnostic tools. Considering the potential for further electrical damage, and the fact that you are getting a steering failure message, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop.

Alright, just wanted to share that the workshop confirmed a defective cable/plug connection, as suspected. 95€ later and the steering column adjustment is working perfectly again. Thanks for the help!
