Skoda Karoq Engine Issues

I'm experiencing some serious engine issues with my 2022 Skoda Karoq (gasoline engine). It's done 170701 km. I'm getting reduced engine power, jerking when accelerating, and visible smoke during acceleration. Plus, there's an error logged in the system. I suspect it might be knocking combustion due to deposits in the combustion chamber. I've been meticulous with maintenance, so I am puzzled. Has anyone encountered something similar with this engine? I’m leaning towards needing some engine tuning or adjusting the ignition timing. Any thoughts before I dive deeper?

Oh wow, that sounds rough! I have a Karoq too, though I haven't run into that specific issue yet. Reduced power and jerking? Yikes! Could it be bad fuel? Have you tried any fuel additives? I’m no mechanic, but I did have a similar experience once with another car. The mechanic recommended engine tuning, maybe that's something to consider?

Interesting. When you say 'similar experience,' was it also accompanied by smoke on acceleration and an engine error code? And what kind of engine tuning did they recommend? Was it just ignition timing, or something more involved? I am thinking it's engine knock but I want to make sure.

Yes, exactly those symptoms! Smoke, the error code – it was the whole nine yards. Honestly, I'm not mechanically inclined enough to tell you exactly what they did during the engine tuning. I remember they mentioned something about the fuel octane and adjusting something or other... It's all a blur. If you are getting engine knock, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. I hope you can get it resolved.

Thanks for your help. It turned out to be combustion chamber deposits, just as I suspected. The workshop cleaned it out, adjusted the ignition timing slightly, and suggested I stick to higher fuel octane. Cost me 425€, but the Karoq is running smoothly again.
