Thanks, that's interesting! The error code mentions fuel composition, but could a faulty MAF sensor cause that even if the fuel is fine? And you mentioned fuel trim values, what are they?

A bad MAF sensor can indirectly cause fuel composition errors. The MAF sensor measures the air entering the engine, which the ECU uses to calculate the fuel to inject. Incorrect readings from the MAF sensor can unbalance the air-fuel mixture, which the ECU sees as a fuel composition issue. Fuel trim values are adjustments by the ECU to compensate for deviations from the ideal air-fuel ratio. If the MAF sensor is giving bad data, the fuel trim values will be off, causing the error message. Given the potential for a defective connection, as your diagnostics suggest, a qualified technician should inspect it.

Just letting you know how this ended. You were right about the connection! The shop found a defective plug connection on the fuel composition sensor. 95€ later, the engine light is off, and it's running great. Thanks for the help!

I had a similar issue in my 2018 Volvo V90, but the cause was different. The symptoms you describe – check engine light, stalling at idle, error codes – point to a problem in the fuel monitoring system. Mine was a faulty mass airflow (MAF) sensor, which skewed the fuel trim values and triggered similar alerts. Does the error message specifically mention fuel quality or mixture?
