Skoda Karoq intake air temperature sensor issue

I am writing to report an issue with my 2020 Skoda Karoq, gasoline engine, currently exhibiting approximately 191128 km. The check engine light is illuminated, accompanied by a perceptible reduction in engine power and rough engine running. Diagnostic interrogation reveals a fault related to the intake air temperature sensor. Given the symptoms and error code, the prevailing hypothesis is a defective intake air temperature sensor. I seek to ascertain if others have encountered similar issues with the IAT sensor and, if so, what remedial actions were undertaken.

Summary of the thread

The issue with the 2020 Skoda Karoq involved a check engine light, reduced engine power, and rough running, attributed to a faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. The problem was confirmed through diagnostic interrogation, which revealed an error related to the IAT sensor. A similar experience was shared, suggesting that the sensor might be reading temperatures inaccurately, leading to engine performance issues. The recommended solution was to replace the IAT sensor, which resolved the problem, turning off the check engine light and restoring smooth engine operation.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Rough engine and check engine light? Sounds familiar. Had a similar issue with my old Volvo a while back. The symptoms you describe, especially the reduced engine power, mirror my experience. Did you happen to check the air temperature reading using a diagnostic tool? Was it showing something completely off, or just fluctuating wildly?

When you say 'completely off,' what kind of values are we talking about? And did you also experience any issues with rough idling or only under load? Was your Volvo also gasoline powered?

In my case, the temperature reading was way out of range – something like -40 degrees Celsius when the ambient air temperature was clearly above freezing. My Volvo was also gasoline. It did idle roughly sometimes, but it was more noticeable under load. Given your mileage and the symptoms, it's probably the IAT sensor. Is it worth trying to clean it first? Maybe, but honestly, it's probably just best to replace it.

I appreciate you sharing your experiences. It seems my initial assessment was correct. I've replaced the IAT sensor. The check engine light is now off, and the engine runs smoothly. The diagnostic tool no longer reports any errors. Total cost was 155€, which aligns with my expectations. Thank you again for your input.
