Skoda Karoq Loud Exhaust Noise

I've got a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2019 Skoda Karoq with a gasoline engine. It's done 232168 km. Recently, I've noticed the exhaust noise is louder than usual, especially after a cold start – the engine sounds really noisy then. Also, there's an error stored in the error memory. My guess is the exhaust flaps are defective. Could this be the cause of the increased exhaust noise and maybe even affect engine performance? I'm not sure where to start with exhaust repair.

Sounds familiar. I had similar exhaust noise issues with my Karoq. Error memory also had something about exhaust flaps. Have you checked for exhaust blockage too? That can cause similar symptoms.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't specifically checked for exhaust blockage. How would I go about checking that? And did replacing the flaps solve the loud exhaust noise permanently?

Yes replacing the flaps fixed the noise issue completely. Regarding the blockage, I'm not an expert, but if the flaps are gone, the exhaust is probably not working properly. Best bet is to get it checked at a workshop. Could save you some trouble down the road.

Just wanted to let you know, you were right. Workshop confirmed defective exhaust flaps. Replaced them for 190€. Exhaust noise is normal now. Thanks for the help.
