Skoda Karoq Tailgate Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Skoda Karoq owner experienced a tailgate issue, with an error memory indicating a hall sensor fault, causing the tailgate not to open fully. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor. After inspecting the wiring, it was confirmed that the hall sensor wiring was the problem, and a repair costing 95€ resolved the issue.

The error is definitely pointing to the hall sensor. Where exactly on the BMW did you find the frayed wire? Was it obvious, or did you need to do some serious investigation?

Yes, the wire was within the flexible rubber boot between the body and the tailgate – constant flexing had broken it. Visually, it was hard to spot at first glance. I’d suggest inspecting that area closely, but honestly, for 95€, it's probably less hassle to get a workshop to trace the wiring. The sensor fault code does point towards a wiring fault.

Confirmed hall sensor wiring was indeed the problem. 95€ later, tailgate works perfectly again. Thanks for the input.

I had a similar issue with the tailgate on my old BMW 3 Series Touring. Turned out to be a frayed wire in the loom where it goes from the body to the tailgate. Did you check the sensor wiring thoroughly? Is the error message specific to the hall sensor?
