Skoda Kodiaq auto transmission issues

My Skoda Kodiaq built in with a diesel engine has a problem. At some kilometers the check engine light and transmission indicator light came on. The gearbox slips, shifts uncleanly and makes grinding noises. Error is stored in the error memory. I suspect the automatic transmission converter is defective. Anyone experienced similar issues with a converter fault or the lock-up clutch?

Summary of the thread

A Skoda Kodiaq with a diesel engine is experiencing issues with the automatic transmission, including the check engine and transmission indicator lights turning on, gear slippage, and grinding noises. The error code P0741 suggests a problem with the torque converter lock-up clutch. The recommended solution is to replace the defective torque converter, as confirmed by a workshop diagnosis. Continuing to drive the vehicle without addressing the issue could lead to further damage and increased repair costs.

I have observed similar symptoms in my Skoda Kodiaq, namely the check engine light illumination, transmission indicator activation, and instances of gear slippage coupled with atypical grinding sounds during gear transitions. These anomalies coincided with diagnostic trouble codes indicative of a potential converter fault. Could you provide additional details regarding the error codes retrieved from the vehicle's error memory? Furthermore, have you observed any fluctuations in engine RPM during periods of perceived gear slippage?

The error code was P0741. The RPM does fluctuate a bit when it slips. What was the solution in your case?

The P0741 code strongly suggests a torque converter lock-up clutch issue. Given the symptoms and the error code, a defective torque converter is the most probable cause. In my case, a replacement of the torque converter was necessary. I recommend consulting a certified workshop for a comprehensive diagnostic assessment and subsequent repair. Continuing to operate the vehicle in its current state may exacerbate the damage and potentially lead to more extensive and costly repairs to the auto transmission system.

Thanks for the insight. Turns out you were spot on. The workshop confirmed a torque converter fault. Repair cost me 2120€.
