Skoda Kodiaq Auxiliary Battery Issue

Hello, I'm experiencing some issues with my 2019 Skoda Kodiaq (diesel engine, 107586 km). I'm getting an error message on the speedometer related to the auxiliary battery. The error memory also stores this error. Additionally, the engine sometimes struggles to start, like the battery is weak. I also suspect some general car electronics malfunctions. I suspect the auxiliary battery isn't charging properly, but I'm not sure how to confirm this. Any ideas?

A 2019 Skoda Kodiaq with a diesel engine shouldn't have weak battery issues so early. The error message and stored error codes definitely point towards the auxiliary battery not charging. I would suggest checking the voltage drop across the battery terminals, but do you have experience with that kind of testing?

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't have much experience with electrical testing, but I could probably borrow a multimeter. Where exactly should I measure to check for a voltage drop? And what would be a normal voltage reading, or a reading that indicates a problem?

Given your lack of experience and the symptoms you're describing, it's likely a low voltage situation with the auxiliary battery affecting your car electronics. While checking the voltage drop yourself could give you some clues, I think you should visit a workshop to diagnose the root cause. It might be more than just the battery itself. The charging circuit could also be faulty.

The auxiliary battery was indeed faulty. Replacing it cost me around 290€. Everything seems fine now. Thanks for the advice!
