Skoda Kodiaq Brake Fluid Low Spongy Pedal

Thanks for the quick reply. Worn brake pads make sense. But if the pads are worn, wouldn't I hear some squealing? And could worn pads really cause the brake fluid level to drop low enough to trigger the warning light?

Yes, worn brake pads can absolutely cause the fluid level to drop. As the pads wear, the pistons in the calipers extend further to maintain contact with the rotors. This increased volume requires more brake fluid from the reservoir, lowering the level. While squealing is a common symptom of worn pads, it doesn't always happen. I strongly suggest you have the brakes inspected at a workshop soon.

Just to let you know how this ended. I took the Kodiaq to the workshop, and it turned out to be worn brake pads. New pads and a fluid replacement later, the brake pedal feels normal. Cost me around 480€. Thanks for the insight!

Low brake fluid with strange pedal feedback is concerning. I experienced something similar with my previous Volvo. The brake fluid warning light came on sometimes. Have you checked the brake pads for wear? That's the most common reason.
