Thanks for the quick reply. When you had these symptoms, what was the ultimate cause and solution? You mentioned higher fuel consumption - how much worse was it? And how did you finally diagnose the issue? Did you also experience the engine stalling at idle?

Okay, so in my case, the symptoms were almost identical. The fuel consumption was about 15% higher than usual. The garage diagnosed it as a faulty injector. Apparently, these injectors are very sensitive to gasoline or diesel contaminants, which can lead to clogging and affect the spray pattern. I'd recommend getting a proper diagnostic check done. It might be worth checking the emissions are normal before you commit to a replacement, but it does sound like the injection nozzle is the most probable culprit. Best to get it sorted sooner rather than later, to avoid any further engine damage.

I took the Kodiaq to the workshop. As suspected, the injection nozzle was defective due to clogging. I had all four nozzles replaced, which cost me 515€. The car runs smoothly again, and the fuel consumption seems to be back to normal. Thanks again for your help!

Oh dear, that sounds rather unpleasant! I have a Kodiaq as well, though I am not a mechanic by any means. I experienced similar symptoms a while ago – rough starting, especially in the cold, and the engine was definitely not as powerful as it used to be. Plus, I noticed the fuel consumption was higher than normal. Could this be related to the emissions system perhaps? What exactly is an injection nozzle anyway, if you don't mind my asking?
