Skoda Kodiaq engine issue

I have a 2017 Skoda Kodiaq with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on. The error code points to a crankshaft to camshaft reference value issue. I've noticed reduced engine power, poor engine response, and it seems like I'm burning more fuel than usual. Could a defective crankshaft sensor be the culprit?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Kodiaq. The engine light kept popping on, and the car felt sluggish. Have you checked your cam sensor or the crankshaft sensor? Mine turned out to be a faulty crankshaft sensor. It messed with the timing and caused all sorts of problems. Is your timing belt in good shape? A worn timing belt can also throw off the camshaft to crankshaft reference value.

Interesting. How did you figure out it was the crankshaft sensor? And did you notice any difference in fuel consumption?

Yep, I had the exact same symptoms – engine light, sluggish performance, and my fuel economy went down the drain. My mechanic used a diagnostic tool to pinpoint the crankshaft sensor. It's a common problem, apparently. Honestly, unless you're really comfortable working on engines, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and replace the sensor. It's not worth messing around with the timing if you're not sure what you're doing!

It was the crankshaft sensor after all. Replaced it, and the engine light is gone. Runs like new. The repair set me back 340€. Thanks for the input.
