Skoda Kodiaq gasoline engine power loss and whistling noise

I'm seriously losing it with my 2017 Skoda Kodiaq gasoline engine! It's got almost 200000 km on it. The check engine light is on, and it feels like I'm driving a snail. Zero power, awful response. Plus, there's this weird whistling noise, turning into a loud hissing when I accelerate. Even stalled at idle a couple times, and the fuel consumption is through the roof! Could this be the boost pressure actuator fault? Is that the same as the turbo wastegate? I read somewhere that a defective electrical bypass valve can cause all this mess...

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Skoda Kodiaq with nearly 200,000 km is experiencing power loss, poor engine response, a check engine light, and a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the turbocharger system, possibly involving the boost pressure actuator or the electrical bypass valve. The problem was confirmed to be the electrical bypass valve, which was replaced, resolving the issues and restoring the vehicle's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like it could be a turbo issue. That whistling and hissing under acceleration is a common sign. The check engine light and loss of power definitely point to some kind of problem with boost control. Does the noise get worse when the engine is under load? Have you checked for any obvious leaks in the intake pipes?

Leaks, hmm... where would I even start looking? And how can a valve cause all these problems at once? It's like a chain reaction of bad stuff!

Yeah, a faulty valve can definitely cause all those symptoms. Think of it like a kink in a hose – it messes up the whole system. The hissing is probably boost pressure escaping. If it's the electrical bypass valve, that's part of the turbocharger boost control system. Honestly, with all those signs, it's probably best to get it checked by a professional. Trying to diagnose turbo issues without the right tools can be a pain.

Just letting you know, the shop confirmed it was the electrical bypass valve, like you said. New one installed, cost 250€. Runs like a dream now. Thanks for the help!
