The oil color is definitely darker than usual, almost black. Power seems normal, no weird noises. You mentioned the oil color, why is that important? And what kind of 'things going downhill' are we talking about?

Okay, dark oil is a sign that it's probably loaded with contaminants and the oil additives have broken down. Think of oil additives like vitamins for your engine – they keep everything healthy and running smoothly. When they're gone, the engine oil can't do its job properly. Exceeding the maintenance interval is a likely cause, as the engine oil and oil filter are designed to be replaced regularly. Continuing to drive with contaminated engine oil can lead to some serious engine damage down the road. I'd suggest getting it checked out at a workshop ASAP.

I wanted to share the outcome. The workshop verified that the maintenance interval was exceeded, as suspected. After a new engine oil, oil filter, and an oil change, the warning light is gone! It cost me about 165€.

Whoa, oil contamination in your Kodiaq? That sounds worrying. First, what does the oil color look like? Is it milky, sludgy, or just darker than usual? Have you noticed any loss of power or strange noises from the engine? Also, when was the last time you changed the engine oil and oil filter? It's like when you forget to water a plant – things start to go downhill fast!
