(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Skoda Kodiaq owner is experiencing issues such as black smoke during acceleration, engine light activation, power loss, rough engine performance, jerking, starting problems, poor fuel consumption, and stalling. The suspected cause is a defective ignition coil or misfires. Another individual shared a similar experience with a Skoda Octavia, where the problem was resolved by replacing the engine control unit. Hey, thanks for the quick reply! My Kodiaq has now covered 98,765 km and was last serviced about 5,000 km ago. Your tip about the engine control unit could be helpful, I'll suggest that to the garage. So far they haven't diagnosed anything specific, just checked the usual suspects like the ignition coil and spark plugs. I will definitely pass on your information and hope to get the problem under control soon. Thank you very much! 🚗

You're welcome, no problem! Sounds reasonable that they have at least checked the ignition coil and spark plugs. Of course, given the mileage, there could be more to it than that. With my Skoda Octavia, they also suspected the ignition coil at first, but when that didn't help, they went deeper into the fault analysis and then came to the engine control unit. In my case, it was actually the case that after replacing the engine control unit, the whole spook was over. Of course, there are always a few possible options, but as you describe similar symptoms, this could well be the right direction. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the workshop finds the exact cause quickly and successfully and fixes it! Please keep us posted here on how things progress. Good luck! 🚗🍀

Hey, I had similar problems with my 2019 Skoda Octavia. I have some experience with cars, but I prefer to go to the garage when it comes to difficult things like this. It turned out to be the engine control unit that was faulty. The symptoms were almost identical: black smoke, engine light, loss of power, rough engine, etc. They replaced the engine control unit at the workshop, which cost me around 1000 euros. But then everything worked great again. It's best to tell the garage exactly what the symptoms are so that they can find out what the problem might be more quickly. Please write to me with more information about your vehicle or the previous diagnoses, then I may be able to help you more precisely. Good luck! 👨🔧🚗
